The American Racing Pigeon Union is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. The board is responsible for setting policy, overseeing operations, and ensuring the organization fulfills its mission.

The AU is organized into seven geographic zones, each represented by an elected Zone Director: Northwest Zone (Ryan Jones), Pacific Mountain Zone (Joyce Stierlin), Southwest Zone (C.L. Gage), Plains Zone (Duane Kugler), Lakes Zone (Dave Wilson), Southeast Zone (Eric Alvarez), Northeast Zone (Ronda Mariani).
